FAQ
Is my JSON uploaded to a server?
No. Formatting, validation, and minification all run in the browser using JavaScript. No network request carries your JSON, and nothing is stored.
How large a file can it handle?
Practically a few megabytes, depending on your device and browser memory. For files above 10 MB a local editor will stay more comfortable.
Does it accept JSON5 or comments?
The validator follows RFC 8259. Comments, trailing commas, and unquoted keys are reported as errors because they are not valid JSON.
Does formatting reorder my keys?
No, original order is preserved. Sorting only happens when you press Sort keys, and it applies recursively to nested objects.
About JSON Formatter & Validator
PastiBeres JSON Formatter & Validator turns messy JSON into readable, indented output, validates the syntax, and reports errors with the exact line and column. It also minifies payloads for production, sorts keys recursively, and shows statistics such as byte size, nesting depth, and key count. Everything runs in your browser with plain JavaScript — no data is uploaded or stored on a server, which makes it safe for internal API payloads and customer data alike.
